Dinner,dinner

Just back from a Christmas Dinner with the pupils at Alderman Knight School at Tewkesbury.
It was terrific, with more than a hundred sitting down for food. The students were so good too.You could sense the contained, constrained excitement. I was treated by one young man to a detailled history of the Christmas tree and also had the chance to catch up with a couple of old friends.

The celebration wrapped up with a rousing sing song, with the kids giving an amazing performance of Slades 'Here it is Merry Christmas My thanks to all of the gang for a lovely morning.

Deck the halls

With the festive season knocking at the door, there was an expectation that numbers might be lighter this week. Not a bit of it.
Once again the faithful turned out and we had a most productive day, with students painting and recycling, making more bird boxes and turning their hands to Christmas wreath making. With a bit of guidance from 'our Hettie' (one of our regular support team) almost everyone went home with a door wreath. It was quite a suprise really, but once one or two of the macho set has succumbed the flood gate was open.
Gerald committed a great deal of care and thought to his, which all agreed was stunning.

We're having a party

It may only be the 10th of December, but the party season is already well underway at the garden and today 40 of the gang turned up to celebrate the imminent arrival of Christmas. It is expected that the exercise will be repeated on a daily basis until the 22nd.
I don't want to see another sausage roll today thank you. or a mince pie, or cheese puff or tortilla chip or pork pie or monster munch.................................................

CHEQUE THIS OUT !

Had a great start to the day today. Our Cabin fund received a great boost this morning, when we were visited by Mr Andrew Bush with a cheque for £2,000.00.

The donation was given by the Gloucestershire Masonic Charities Association and it will make a huge difference to the project. The kindness and generosity of the community continues to delight.............and the students were pretty excited too.

Wood you believe it ....

The woodworkers have been hard at it again, with still more orders coming in for bird boxes. They have been turning them out for a fiver and they are great value. We are getting some help with the timber which does make a difference and should extend special thanks to B-Grade domestics and to Messier Dowty for the recycled materials.
We have also sold a good heap of kindling today. There are benefits to cold weather after all.
